Our Programs
Lifesaving Program Malaysia
From First Rescue Skill to Bronze Medallion
Why lifesaving is more than a certificate
Roughly 600 people drown in Malaysia each year, and most incidents happen near someone who could have helped if they knew how. A lifesaving program Malaysia families can trust is not about hanging a medal on a wall. It is about producing competent, calm people who can recognise trouble in water, perform a safe rescue, and resuscitate someone whose breathing has stopped. AquaSplash runs structured lifesaving courses across our Selangor venues, taught by coaches who hold the qualifications themselves.
Our lifesaving track suits three groups: strong teenage swimmers who want a recognised award before further qualifications, adults pursuing lifeguarding or aquatic-industry careers, and competitive swimmers cross-training in rescue skills. The minimum age for Bronze Medallion in Malaysia is 14. There is no upper age limit, but candidates need genuine swimming competence, not enthusiasm alone.
The LSSM award ladder, explained
Lifesaving in Malaysia is governed by the Life Saving Society Malaysia (LSSM), known in Bahasa as Persatuan Penyelamat Kelemasan Malaysia. LSSM is a full member of the International Life Saving Federation, and its certificates are internationally recognised. The award ladder runs in this order:
Elementary Award
Self-preservation, swimming competence, non-contact rescue (not deep-water rescue)
Intermediate Award
Higher swimming standard, preparatory to Bronze Medallion (not deep-water rescue)
Bronze Medallion
The standard test of a qualified lifesaver: judgement, knowledge, technique and fitness
Bronze Cross
Advanced rescue, deep-water and longer-distance skills
Award of Merit
The advanced test, longer-distance and more complex rescue scenarios
Our lifesaving program Malaysia aligns to this ladder. Most candidates target the Bronze Medallion as their first formal qualification, since it is the entry credential for lifeguard work and the foundation for everything above it.
How we prepare swimmers
A good lifesaving courses programme is half swimming, half rescue craft. Our preparation runs across both. Candidates train freestyle and breaststroke endurance toward the 400m benchmark, then layer in the rescue-specific work: surface dives, towing tired swimmers, head-up swimming for casualty contact, and the rotation between rescuer and rescued in pair drills.
CPR and EAR sessions are taught with mannequins under coach supervision, and theory is delivered alongside the practical work rather than as a separate cram. Because our coaches hold Bronze Medallion and Life Saving certifications themselves, your candidate is taught by someone who has stood where they are about to stand.
The lifesaving program Malaysia sessions run at our Klang, Shah Alam and Puchong venues on rolling intakes. Examinations are organised through LSSM and conducted under their examiners; we coordinate registration and examination logistics for candidates enrolled in our preparation track.
